It is a popular adage to forgive and forget, and then there is a more modern version of it that advises to forgive but not forget. But is it really in our benefit to forgive but not forget?
During my sessions with my spiritual master and guide Hingori, I have learnt that it is best to forget.
Let’s examine this course from a spiritual standpoint first. When we forgive someone then we believe that a wrongdoing has been done towards us by the other. Thus, we first nurture the idea of duality through this perspective. Secondly, we sit in judgement, albeit for a split second, on the actions of the other. However, if there has been an improvisation in our thought and conduct following an unpleasant experience then we definitely do not need to remember the act or the event.
Forgetfulness can also be applied in the commercial world where the stakes are higher. Whenever an unforeseen event occurs, an SOP is created to cover it and owners of this process are assigned.
Thus, to actually evolve spiritually, emotionally, practically and commercially one needs to forget completely.
